Our Story

Welcome!
Here’s a little bit about who we are.

Our company was established in 2003 and we started managing 2 abandoned coffee states in the Jinotega/Matagalpa areas, with the long-term view of re-establishing the business of these plantations sustainably.

During the past 16 years, we have replanted our estates with new and diverse coffee varieties, we have established a professional organization and we have invested in rebuilding the infrastructure of the farms: all the living quarters, roads, coffee mills, processing and transport equipment, etc. Last but not least, we’re very proud to have established a unique education project at La Bastilla, which aims to give unique opportunities to young children and adolescents in our local area La Bastilla is the only specialty arabica coffee estate in Nicaragua with fully integrated production processes from cherry to export bag, all done on-site at the farm.

We produce, process, and export from our two estates:

  • La Bastilla Farm, based in the highlands of Jinotega, Nicaragua
  • Santa Luz Farm, based in the mountains of Matagalpa, Nicaragua.

Our coffee represents the impact of the microclimate of the farms/areas and a very careful, quality-oriented harvesting and milling process at the farm including drying of the parchment. According to the Rainforest Alliance Cupping for Quality contests in recent years, we have obtained ratings between 84 and 88 points on the SCAA scale.
